After establishing himself as a filmmaker with ‘Dhobighat’ Kiran Rao made his second film as a director ‘Lapata Ladies’. Aamir Khan also joined Kiran Rao and Jyoti Deshpande as producers. Ever since the film released in theatres, it has been in the news for all the right reasons. Be it critics or common man, the film managed to touch everyone’s heart with its simplicity and simple theme. However, now actor-filmmaker Anant Mahadevan has made a big claim about this, which has left everyone stunned.
Recently, actor-filmmaker Anant Mahadevan made a shocking claim in an interview that some established scenes in the Kiran Rao-directed ‘Missing Ladies’ were references to his 1999 film ‘Ghunghat Ke Pat Khol’. The film featured Joy Sengupta, Vishal Verma, Neha Pendse, Sucheta Khanna and others.
Ananth Mahadevan also finds it a bit strange that his film ‘Ghunghat Ke Pat Khol’, which was available on YouTube some time ago, has now mysteriously disappeared from the internet. On his part, Anant Mahadevan said that he did not even approach Aamir Khan or Kiran Rao in this regard as he knew that they would show differences in the two stories. Furthermore, he said, he had no evidence because his film was no longer available on YouTube. As far as ‘Missing Ladies’ directed by Kiran Rao is concerned, the film is now available on OTT platform Netflix.
